Training for success: Enhancing the skills of the LATAM Telecom Team
Readiness IT recently organized an intensive training program in Portugal for 3 members of the Telco Team from Chile. We spoke with these professionals to understand their experiences and how this training will impact their roles.
Could you please introduce yourselves briefly? What are your names, where are you from, how long have you been working with us, and what are your roles in the company?
Elard Torres: My name is Elard Torres, I am from Lima, Peru. I have been working with Readiness IT for approximately a year and a half as an IT Consultant in the Telco area (CoE Customer Care).
Jorge Gonzalez: Hello, my name is Jorge González. I am Venezuelan, and I currently live in Santiago, Chile. I joined Readiness IT on April 15, and I have been in the company for 3 months, playing the role of IT Consultant in the Telco (EOC) area.
Regarding the training, what was this training about? What did the team learn during the course?
João Cerqueira: This initiative was requested by Tiago Neves, AMS Stream Leader in the OM Fulfillment Project for Entel Chile/Peru. Our goal was to allow our colleagues to acquire new knowledge and skills that would allow them to better understand their roles and execute their daily responsibilities with greater efficiency. The training had four key moments: a presentation and explanation about each theme, a participation phase and discussion, practical exercises, and an assessment. The course covered an Introduction to EOC, Development Tools (Velocity Studio, Postman & SOAPUI), Support Modules (SOF, Error Handling, Messaging, and omSignals), Error Analysis (Order Analysis and Process Analysis), and Deployments (Environmental Analysis and Metadata Deployment). This training was approved by the Telco Business Unit Director, who supported this important investment in our people because we want to ensure that they have the tools and expertise needed to excel in their positions.
Elard Torres: We had a very interesting training session, learning more in-depth about our EOC work tool and the analysis of cases in the Telco area. We were able to understand the step-by-step process of a service order from start to finish and how to analyze it if any error arose in production, both operationally and at the code level. We understood the core of the information, how data is stored, and how these influence the order types and their interactions in the database.
Jorge Gonzalez: We have been learning more about our EOC work tool and the analysis of cases in the Telco area. We were able to understand the step-by-step process of a service order from start to finish and how to analyze it if any error arose in production, both operationally and at the code level. We also understood how the data is stored to more efficiently identify the underlying solution to the problems present in production.
How many days did this training last?
João Cerqueira: The full training duration was 9 days. It was intensive training, and all three participants demonstrated hard work and dedication throughout the course. We are confident that the skills and knowledge they gained will have a positive impact on their work in Chile and Peru. We are excited to continue investing in the growth and development of our global workforce.
Elard Torres: It was a wonderful and spectacular 9 days of training in Portugal, which we took full advantage of. We reviewed the most fundamental part of the theory, clarified our doubts, and also ‘got into the field’ by reviewing daily orders.
Jorge Gonzalez: We learned the theoretical part of how it works and what the functionality of its processes is, as well as practical cases to apply what we saw during the training days, observing cases that occur in production in both Chile and Peru.
Do you think João Cerqueira was a good trainer? Did he motivate you throughout the entire course?
Elard Torres: A very good instructor, understanding and patient, who looked for the best way to explain our doubts and give us greater clarity on the problems we face daily. He showed us the enormous world behind our functions and how much we can learn every day.
Jorge Gonzalez: An excellent professional, an excellent person, and a very good instructor. He looked for the best way to explain to us in a patient and affectionate way. He showed us the enormous world behind our functions and how much we can learn every day.
What is your opinion about the training you received? Do you find it valuable, and do you consider it important for your professional development, and why?
Elard Torres: It was excellent training. We got to know different environments, meet team members from other countries, and get to know better those we deal with daily.
Jorge Gonzalez: Apart from being very grateful for the opportunity, it was an excellent experience to grow both personally and professionally in the world of EOC.
Would you recommend other people to have a similar experience and receive this training?
Elard Torres: Absolutely. It was a very good experience that I would like to repeat.
Jorge Gonzalez: An experience that I would 100% recommend
Was this your first time in Portugal? Did you have the opportunity to visit any places and do some sightseeing? What did you like the most in Porto?
Elard Torres: Yes, it was like arriving in another world. The people, the streets, the vibe, and the curiosities were amazing; the most striking were the landscapes, especially the Douro River, with its beautiful 6 bridges and the views they offer.
Jorge Gonzalez: Yes, it was my first time in Portugal. I did have the opportunity to get to know a little about its culture and its beautiful landscapes, such as the Douro River, the Cathedral, and the Stock Exchange Palace, among other things that dazzle us in that beautiful city.
Considering the training, the opportunity to meet new people from the Telco team, travel to the other side of the world, and meet new people and places, how would you rate your overall experience from 1 to 5?
Elard Torres: I would rate it a 5. It was a very good experience, and I would recommend it to any new or old team member. It is an incomparable experience.
Jorge Gonzalez: The experience lived is undoubtedly a 5. It was a pleasant experience that, without hesitation, as I indicated before, I would recommend to any other colleague in the organization. Greatly grateful for the experience, for the teaching, and for the opportunity to discover a new destination.
* In addition to Elard Torres and Jorge Gonzalez, Renato Urtecho from Peru also participated in the training session. However, we were unable to include his responses in this article as he recently became a father and is currently on paternity leave. Congratulations to Renato on this happy occasion!
